Jean Cocteau was a French poet, essayist, playwright, screenwriter, illustrator, writer, librettist, director and actor.

His versatility, originality and enormous expressive ability brought him international acclaim. Cocteau is best known for his novel "Terrible Boys" (1929), the play "The Human Voice" (1930) and the film "Beauty and the Beast" (1946).
