The Prize

The winner of this auction will have the chance to be photographed by famous international artist Maurizio Galimberti through his famous mosaic technique, where he breaks up and puts together the image in mosaic form to recreate it, reinterpreting it in a continual dimension of researc and discovery of rhythm and movement.

Dimensions 50x70 cm (56 polaroid).

Photographer, artist, experimenter. He likes to describe himself as the “Instant Polaroid artist”.  His passion for photography started from a young age. His first approach was analogical film, then at the beginning of the 1980s he moved to Polaroid. The impatience, the desire to immediately see the shots, the trepidating wait to see on the film the instant captured by the camera, together with the colors of instant photos, all led Maurizio to the start of a long journey of research and experimentation that continues today. His name is closely linked to instant photography that has been raised to a form of art.

Maurizio Galimberti is the art of portrait. With his technique he has captured singers, actors, normal people. Galimberti is able in a second to view a complex breakdown of the image to be portrayed, mathematical in his precision and musical in the harmony of the all, which is clear if you read his notes. "A portrait is like visiting someone for fifteen, twenty minutes. You cannot disturb people for longer, like a mosquito about to sting."

Maurizio finds inspiration from the great photographers of the past, impresssed by the photographic philosophy of Henry Cartier-Bresson. According to the photographer - who in his career has photographed international stars of the calibre of Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Robert De Niro, Kate Winslet, and Benicio Del Toro - vintage is not a fleeting fashion, but a physiological need compared to the prepackaged modern world.
