The Prize

Special mementos from the 1997 Tour courtesy of Ieuan Evans' personal collection.

This classic training jersey is from the 1997 Tour to South Africa - which ended in a magnificent Test Series win. This is an official training jersey worn by legend Ieuan Evans.

The jersey is personalised with IE initials and represents all the home unions through the use of white, blue, green and red.

Ieuan has also donated his game socks actually worn on the iconic '97 Tour as part of this unique auction lot.

Evans played in three Lions Tours in 1989, 1993 and 1997. In that time he earned six Test caps in 20 appearances.

Among his most memorable moments were scoring the decisive Series-winning try in the third Test against Australia in 1989 and his four tries against the All Blacks in 1993, which made him the Lions top try scorer.

Evans appeared 72 times for Wales and captained the team on 28 occasions. He also won the Heineken Cup with Bath Rugby in 1998.

In 2007 he was inducted into the International Rugby Hall of Fame and seven years later he was introduced to the IRB/World Rugby Hall of Fame.
