The Prize

Groupama-FDJ Team jersey, race version from the 2020 Giro d'Italia, for Italian cyclist Jacopo Guarnieri.

Guarnieri began competing at the age of six with the Cremonese 1891 Cycling Club, in 1993 he racked up approximately 130 victories in the G1 and G6 categories. He turned pro in 2009 with Liquigas, winning the third stage of the Tour of Poland and the Italian track championship in the team pursuit. In 2012 he moved to Astana, playing a starring role in the Paris-Roubaix. In 2015 he was bought by Team Katusha, racking up 40 overall victories for the team and taking 200 podium places in that same year. At the Giro d'Italia 2020 he ranked 128th. He was lead-out man for French sprinter Arnaud Demare, winner of the cyclamen jersey on lap 2020 and 4 stages on lap 2020.

The lot also includes the back protector that Guarnieri competed in for the Giro d'Italia 2020.

Guarnieri has signed the shirt front and back, making it a unique collector's item.

The Cause

BOF is an association based in Imola in the province of Bologna. Imola is known worldwide for its racetrack which has hosted international sporting events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix or concerts of well-known musical groups / singers worldwide.

This year, in addition to what has just been described, the association also wants to support the "NeverGiveUp Memorial Nicola Ussia". This project was born in 2015 from the family's desire to remember the father Nicola, who died in 2009 from a heart attack. The aim of NeverGiveUp is to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases prevention. Every year the association organizes a fundraising event. Thanks to the money collected during the event, 7 defibrillators were donated to local Sports Associations and Educational Institutes.

However, due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, the 6th NeverGiveUp Memorial Nicola Ussia will not be able to take place in June. Nonetheless, thanks to the support of the BOF Association, a new initiative was conceived: a charity auction of sports memorabilia whose proceeds will be destined for the "Spesa Solidale" and the purchase of a new defibrillator.
