Helen Mirren is the winner of an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, four BAFTA Awards, five Screen Actors Guild Awards, four Emmy Awards and a Tony Award. Among the most popular film actresses, she has been active for four decades in theater (in particular Shakespearean theater), on television and in cinema.

Mirren won the first of her many Emmys in 1993 for her portrayal of Jane Tennison in the acclaimed TV series Prime Suspect (1991-2006). She is among the few actresses in the history of cinema to have won two Prix d'interprétation féminine at the Cannes Film Festival, respectively in 1984 for Cal and in 1994 for The Madness of King George.
