Jorge Lorenzo Guerrero is a Spanish motorcycle rider who retired from competition at the end of the 2019 season, winner of five world championship titles, in 2006 and 2007 in the 250 class and in 2010, 2012 and 2015 in MotoGP.

From his debut in the 125 class he always raced with the number 48. In 2007 and 2011, as the reigning champion of the 250 and MotoGP classes respectively, he used the number 1. Starting from the 2009 season, following the retirement from of his manager Daniel Amatriaín, he decided to retire the number 48 (linked to Amatriaín) and instead use the number 99.
