Win this exceptional etching representing the Duchy of Milan in 1600!

1606 Etching with coeval coloring of the Milan territory of author J. Jansonio. The etching is published Amsterdam - origin Atlas Maior. Seventeenth-century paper well preserved. The text of this etching is in French. The dimensions are 49x60 cm.

Over the centuries the size of the Duchy varied greatly, reaching its maximum extension at the beginning of 1400 with the Visconti family.  In 1500 with the Sforza family, the Duchy was stabilized in the western part of Lombardy, keeping parts of Piedmont , Emilia and the canton of Ticino. However, in 1600 it had lost much of its territories, to get to 1700 when there were only the Lombard lands.
