Borgo Pignano is an elegant, historic country estate in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, just a short drive from the historic, hill towns of Volterra and San Gimignano and within easy reach of the medieval cities of Florence and Siena and the vineyards of Chianti. Today, this sensitively restored and privately owned Borgo offers warm and gracious hospitality in a tranquil setting about 500 meters above sea level with some of the most commanding views in all of Tuscany that can stretch to the Mediterranean.

The Cause

Founded in 1980 by the renowned, late breast cancer surgeon Umberto Veronesi, MD, and Italian businessman Alessandro di Montezemolo, the American-Italian Cancer Foundation (AICF) is a nonprofit organization based in New York that supports cancer research, education and control, emphasizing the outstanding resources of Italy and the United States, recognizing world-class scientific excellence in medicine, and serving medically-underserved New York City women through breast cancer screening, outreach and education.

AICF has two core programs: the Mobile, No-Cost Breast Cancer Screening Program provides no-cost mammograms and clinical breast exams to medically-underserved women on a Mobile Care Clinic that travels the five boroughs of New York City, five days a week, year around; and the International Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program funds innovative cancer research projects of young scientists who work and train in collaboration with mentors at major centers in the United States.
