Rosa Lomonaco was born in Sicily in 1952. Her work was worthy of note from early on due to her pictorial vision that deviates from traditional paths. Her approach soon earned her recognition among the public and critics on the national stage. In 2012 she won the contemporary art competition chaired by John Picking.

Deep Split showcases the artist's eclectic style, which is revealed as the viewer looks at the work. The strong references to Mondrian, Van Gogh and Fontana draw the viewer's attention to different areas of the canvas, whose three-dimensionality is gradullly highlighted as the eye is drawn to a material fold that gathers the dark tempera.

In an instant you are transported into a Midsummer Night's Dream, into Goethe's Faust, into a starry sky. The rhythmic tension of the work is recomposed under the viewer's gaze, revealing itself with every blink of the eye.
