The Prize

Paul Ordner comes from a Jewish family of Polish origin. Born in Paris on December 29, 1901, he is the fourth and last child of the family. Early on, his talents as a designer were noticed at the Rollin School in Paris. After the death of his father in 1916, he did military service and entered the Paris Stock Exchange thanks to his brother Raymond.

Paul Ordner's first drawings appeared in 'L'Illustration' in 1923 in advertisements for Spidolein Motor Oil. Paul Ordner soon became interested in sports design. In 1931, Ordner began working for the American entrepreneur Jeff Dickson, director of the Velodrome d'Hiver, known as "Vel d'Hiv".

Alviero Martini was born in Cuneo on March 13, 1950, where he completed his artistic studies and soon began to travel while working as a window dresser. In 1987, his search for "something unique" led him a date with destiny . In Moscow he found a fascinating and faded old map. He glued it onto an old suitcase and thus he stumbled upon the idea to create an innovative line of baggage embellished with geographic maps. 1990 marks a successful year across the globe. Recognized as the creator of a new travel concept, he rapidly became well known as the 'traveling stylist'.
