The Prize

Enjoy dinner for two in Grottaferrata near Rome in the company of Italian fencers Valerio Aspromonte and Carolina Erba.

Born in Rome on March 16, 1987, Valerio Aspromonte specializes in the foil. He grew up fencing for Frascati Scherma, where he still trains. He is a member of the Fiamme Gialle team and the national team.

Carolina Erba was born in Busto Arsizio on March 8, 1985. In 2010/11 she won first place in the Rio de Janeiro Military World Games in the team competition and third place in the individual competition. In 2012 she won team silver at the Italian championships and third place in the Shanghai leg of the team World Cup.

The two fencers will open up their home to you for what promises to be a wonderful evening. 

This experience is valid for two people and will take place within a year of auction closing on a date to be agreed according to the availability of Valerio Aspromonte, Carolina Erba and the auction winner.

The Cause

“WE RUN TOGETHER – Supporting our team” is a sports initiative supporting two hospitals that have been at the heart of the fight against Covid-19, the Papa Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo and the Fondazione Poliambulanza in Brescia. The funds raised from the auctions will go to the medical and nursing staff of these two hospitals that have tirelessly looked after Coronavirus patients in recent months.

This campaign has received the extraordinary support and blessing of Pope Francis who is actively involved in the initiative by donating some of his own personal highly valuable and prestigious sports items. Besides the Pope, many internationally renowned athletes, companies and sports clubs have joined the cause because we’re stronger together.

WE RUN TOGETHER is promoted and organized by four organizations that have always been committed to promoting the value of sport as a tool for inclusion, sharing, dialogue and peace. These organizations are:

  • Atheltica Vaticana, the first sports club in Vatican City
  • Sports group Fiamme Gialle (Guardia di Finanza)
  • “Cortile dei Gentili”, department of the Pontifical Council for Culture (VA) to promote dialogue between believers and non-believers
  •  FIDAL-Lazio, Lazio region Athletic Federation.
