The Prize

This print was originally commissioned by Greenpeace to highlight the problems of global deforestation as part of their Save or Delete campaign. The image, which features some of the main characters from Disney’s 'The Jungle Book', was transposed onto a picture of a devastated forest, intended for use on posters, billboards and postcards. While it was printed, it was never put into circulation because of legal threats by Disney.

This is a print that is difficult to find on the collector's market. The conditions are very good, but obviously it has very slight imperfections due to age.

Features:

- Dimensions: 59.4 × 41.9 cm (23.4 x 16.5 in)
- Edition Offset lithograph on recycled paper
- Notes: Printed in 2002
- Condition: very good. The poster has been rolled up, not folded.
- Further notes: The colors on the screen differ slightly from those on paper

Banksy is the most famous and controversial street artist in the world, everyone talks about him, his works are incredibly expensive. Yet we know nothing about him. We do not know his face, his name, or his date of birth. Whether it is to escape the authorities or to help a precise “marketing” strategy, this concealed identity has two main consequences. It boosts his fame (just think of the intriguing media speculations on Banksy's identity) and, above all, it deters us from talking about him, or rather it prompts us to talk about him only through his work. Banksy loads his graffiti with irony and cutting satire, combining strong images to subversive and politically incorrect epigrams.

Banksy is an all-round artist who has dramatically transformed the world of Street Art with the so-called “Banksy effect”.
