DON ROBERTO SARDELLI

Alcamo, January 9, 1947

A life spent alongside the least, the marginalized, between the shacks and the degradation, Don Roberto Sardelli is one of the protagonists of Rome in the seventies, the "priest of the slums", who with his teaching changed the lives of many children who until then they lived in serious social situations. Founder of the famous "Scuola 725", housed in one of the shacks of the Acquedotto Felice, he is committed to redeeming marginalized children from school, allowing them to continue their studies. His battle also continues through journalistic collaborations with Paese Sera, l'Unità e Liberazione and many magazines from the Catholic world. In 2018 he was also awarded an honorary degree at the University of Roma Tre, shortly before passing away, in 2019, at the age of 83.
