Vanitas Project by Magda Masano.

Vanitas Project: a recurring symbol found throughout the history of mankind and art, from ancient cave paintings to medieval and baroque pictorial movements to contemporary art, literature, Alexander McQueen's collections and Delfina Delettrez's jewels, the skull passes through the ages unaffected by the passing of time because it is time itself. It is a "memento mori," an ancient warning that reminds us to live right now, to the best of our possibilities, because life is ephemeral—hence the need for the artist to celebrate life. It is Vanitas and Pop. Vanitas Project draws from the primal meaning of the skull, the skull object, and brings it back to its original connotation—Pop and Folk.

Magda has created 3 limited series of 99 unique pieces in handcrafted terracotta and hand-painted ceramics based on a concept that emphasizes the hymn of life with crowns of roses, grapes, laurel and wildflowers.

Size: 18 x 18 x 12 cm.
