Doggy John is a 55cm-tall unique bronze artwork created especially for this occasion by Julien Marinetti.

For more than 30 years, French artist Julien Marinetti has been expanding the borders of painting and sculpture. Marinetti’s main intention is to push viewers out of their comfort zone by questioning the work, its relationship with the canvas and the viewers’ own relationship with the artwork. He uses acrylics, bronze and engravings to create deconstructed pieces of art that could represent strange reflections of the artist’s ego - or that of the viewer.

The artist’s favourite subject is the animal kingdom and he has exhibited his fantastic bestiary all around the world. From Paris to New York, London, Singapore, Courchevel, Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Marrakesh, his pandas, penguins and bulldogs are found in mythical places to open a dialogue with the viewers.

Doggy John has become the artist’s iconic sculpture. The calm figure of this sitting French bulldog contrasts with the sparkling pinks and blues the artist loves to paint with. His name, “Follow Your Dreams”, is both a maxim and an invitation. Since most of our children dream of having a dog, today it can be theirs.

The Italian Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF Italia) is part of the overall structure of UNICEF - United Nations Fund for Children, the UN subsidiary organ that is appointed to protect and promote the rights of girls, children (aged 0-18) and adolescents all over the world, and to contribute to the improvement of their living conditions.

Our organization is therefore both a non-governmental organization (NGO) that is part of the growing third sector in Italy and a representative of an intergovernmental program of the United Nations. In keeping up with the rest of the organization, even UNICEF Italy's actions are inspired by the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the Millennium Development Goals.

The Italian Committee for UNICEF is a well-organized, professional structure with a vast network of volunteers throughout the country.
