The Prize
Take home this elegant pair of Deruta majolica vases with the characteristic Albarello (or Alberello) shape, the typical vases first used in Persia and then introduced in Italy during the Renaissance.
From the Deruta furnaces came splendid Albarelli vases that were sent all over Europe. Albarello was a cylindrical, wide-mouthed container used in pharmacies to contain spices, herbal products or medicinal preparations such as ointments and powders.
These vases are entirely hand-painted. The design features delicate tones and depicts two ancient knights in a fighting stance.
