Live Bid! Magnum Mathusalem Champagne from the Amour de Deutz Collection
Mathusalem Amour de Deutz Millesimo 2000, 600 cl in a numbered edition of 365 bottles—the bottle up for this auction is no. 136. It comes in a red leather case.
This extremely classic champagne is the most eclectic of the DEUTZ varietals. Ideal as an aperitif, it can accompany fish with sauces (salmon, turbot, St. Peter's fish), chicken, or white meats in particular.
This Brut Classic's harmony depends on the quality of the grapes, the wide range of selected vineyards (between 20 and 30) all in the Marne area of France, and the right balance between the three vine varietals in the Champagne region: Pinot Noir (1/3), Pinot Meunier (1/3), and Chardonnay (1/3).
- It has a sustained golden hue and very fine perlage—unequivocally DEUTZ—characteristic of wines that have benefitted from extended aging in the bottle.
- The very expressive bouquet reveals floral notes (hawthorn, white flowers...), then the aroma of toast, almond paste and ripe fruit (apples, pears...).
- The palate associates the freshness of Chardonnay, the softness of Pinot and an elegant vinosity.
- With well-bound aromas and a smooth silky texture, the wine rounds out with a long-lasting fruity aftertaste.
