Fondazione Torino Musei

GAM - Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Turin boasts 155 years of history and art with a collection of 47,000 works from the 1800s to the present day, including paintings, sculptures, installations, drawings and photographs.

In addition, the gallery houses one of the most important collections of artist films and videos in Europe, an art library comprising 140,000 volumes and a photographic archive of over 400,000 photographs. Turin was the first Italian city to promote a public collection of modern art as an integral part of its Civic Museum.

The building, designed by architects Carlo Bassi and Goffredo Boschetti, opened in 1959, today houses the works of the greatest Italian artists of the nineteenth century such as Canova, Fontanesi, Fattori, Medardo Rosso, Pellizza da Volpedo and the twentieth century including Balla, Boccioni, Casorati, Modigliani, De Chirico, Martini, Morandi, De Pisis and Fontana. The museum also boasts one of the most important collections of Arte Povera, including works by Merz, Boetti, Pistoletto, Paolini, Zorio, Anselmo and Penone and a rich offering of works by international artist such as Paul Klee, Francis Picabia, Picasso, Marx Ernst, Otto Dix and Alexander Calder.

The Museum is constantly evolving and in order to maintain the quality of its cultural offering it needs the help of a prestigious supporter. Together with Suzuki, the Museum will continue its commitment to modern and contemporary research. Auction proceeds will be donated entirely to GAM to maintain and invest in programs and heritage conservation activities.
