AriSLA

AriSLA – The Agency for Research on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) – is the main Italian and European foundation which aims exclusively to promote and coordinate scientific research on ALS. It was set up in December, 2008 thanks to the joint effort of Fondazione Cariplo, Fondazione Telethon, Fondazione Vialli and Mauro and AISLA. This Agency has been set up to make ALS research investments more effective and efficient, to speed up the clinical impact of the research and to provide patients with better care, improved conditions and life expectancy. Its aim is to boost Italian excellencies in basic, clinical and technological research. It currently has 54 research groups with more than 100 active researchers at present.

The quality and the features of AriSLA founder members represent the best guarantee of reliability and continuity of this ambitious project, which is, furthermore, the first model of cooperation between scientific and philanthropic actors in Italy. AriSLA intends to act as the catalyst and the driver of ALS research by promoting, financing and coordinating research activity and by promoting and fostering the transfer of research outcomes into clinical practice.
