This auction is for a pair of Adidas Astro Football Boots, worn and signed by Rupert Graves.

Rupert Graves is an English actor who has worked both in film and television, and on stage. He is well known for the role of DI Lestrade in Sherlock and has also featured in A Room with a View, The Madness of King George and The Forsyte Saga.

This is the first year Rupert has donated to the Small Steps Project Celebrity Shoe Auction

Rupert has kindly donated are a pair of sporty black leather Astro football boots by Adidas in a size UK 9. The boots are signed on the left boot heel and on the right shoes outer side.

Rupert has entered all our homes as Detective Inspector Lestrade in the BBC series Sherlock, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes. According to Benedict, Rupert has five children and is good at football. He has worn these shoes to play football, many times.

Rupert Graves has personally donated these shoes in support of Small Steps Project.

The Cause

Small Steps Project is a children’s charity dealing with the most devastating humanitarian consequence of the global waste problem: child waste pickers.

All over the world thousands of children survive by collecting and recycling rubbish on landfill sites. Deprived of an education, they work when they should be at school and put their lives at risk on a daily basis. Work on the dumps is dirty and dangerous. As well as respiratory and skin diseases, cuts and lacerations to their hands and feet are commonplace and risk of infection is extremely high in the toxic environment.

Small Steps Project provides shoes to protect their feet and support to enable them to take small steps off the dump sites, out of poverty and into education.

To date, Small Steps Project has provided shoes and aid to over 20,000 children thanks to the money raised from shoes, all donated and signed by some of the most famous celebrities in the world.
