The audio cassette containing the project for one of Jimi Hendrix's albums!

On the 45th anniversary of the death of Jimi Hendrix, the greatest guitarist of all time, an incredible find has come to light.
This find - a cassette with something like 40 minutes of Jimi Hendrix recordings! It comes from a fan of Hendrix, who has kept it for over 40 years since it was delivered directly from a friend in London.
This friend, in turn, has given this tape to Salvatore Garau, drummer with the Stormy Six.

The recording took place roughly in 1971 as  the basis for a posthumous album.
Among the pieces you can recognize variations of Blue Suede Shoes, Born to Hootchie Kootchie Man and Electric Ladyland.

Some pieces are studio recordings, others were played in small concerts. The most interesting aspect is that they have not been remastered.

In the recording, Hendrix does more than just sing and play: he jokes around by doing an imitation of Donald Duck, while he also counts in his band and scolds his drummer.

This is the original recording and although it is a very old piece, it is still in excellent condition and fully functional.

Franco Fabbri, one of the most authoritative musicologists in Europe gives his thoughts on the cassette:

“It is a copy on a chrome cassette, of professional quality, of a probable master for an album containing Hendrix’s unpublished pieces. Some of them look and sound like rough-mixes of studio recorded pieces which were never published like a particularly long and very well recorded Hoochie Coochie Man. The quality and the choice of these pieces tell us that the cassette is likely to come from professional environments close to Hendrix’s entourage, or to his record company or to recording studios where all the pieces (except one which is a live version) were recorded. The scheme is similar but not identical to the scheme of a posthumous album published in 1974, Loose Ends.

As the cassette is certainly before 1974, and as it is also sure that it isn’t a copy of a disc, we can presume that it was made to circulate in professional environments the project of a posthumous album, probably Loose Ends itself which was then carried out incorporating other marerials.”
