National Football Museum

The National Football Museum, a registered charity, looks after over 150 years of football history. It exists to explain how and why football has become ‘the people’s game’, a key part of England’s heritage and way of life. It also aims to explain why England is the home of football, the world’s most popular sport.  The museum isn’t just for football fans; it’s for everyone regardless of their involvement with the sport. It is often the first point of contact with the game for non-fans, and for fans it provides an introduction to wider the aspects of culture and history around football.

The Museum’s long-term mission is to protect football’s heritage and culture, for future generations as well as the current one. The museum is based in Manchester and has a vision to develop further permanent sites in England and around the world.
